Cindy Darwin joined David, her life partner of more than thirty years, at Perspectives, in 2018. She and David raised their three sons in Kamloops, BC, where they live today. She deeply values being part of a family team that shares a love of the outdoors, travel, music, and meaningful living. Cindy began her professional career in 1994, as a certified BC teacher. She brings her unique life experience and varied professional aptitudes and skills to her collaborative work with clients.

Cindy continues to acquire specialized training that enables her to help clients with a wide range of counselling concerns (see list on "Services" page). She believes that people want and deserve to live meaningful lives and to lessen their own and others’ suffering. She also recognizes that all people carry pain, and that everyone’s pain is maximum to them. Cindy helps clients explore the origins and intensity of their pain, and find ways to heal, so they can live freer and more satisfying lives.

Cindy has special concern for folks who feel like they’ve been diminished by diet culture and shamed by weight stigma, and who are ready to make peace with food and body. She is strongly committed to supporting clients who choose not to diet, and who want to explore how to eat in a self-trusting, orderly way they feel good about. In today's world, eating is fraught and healthism has become a new, culturally sanctioned religion. Still, it is possible to discover that a meaningful life can be about so much more than what you eat or don't eat, and that weight stabilization and improved health are achievable. Cindy’s unique, evidence-based, non-diet approach to wellness helps clients eat without anxiety, take pleasure in movement, and respect and appreciate their now-bodies. Worthiness is not size-dependent.

Cindy prioritizes ongoing professional accountability and development. She meets regularly with colleagues for supervision, attends several trainings each year, and integrates updated research findings and best practices in her work with clients. She invites clients to "come and sit down in a quiet and protected place, explore your concerns without distraction or judgment, and feel more connected to yourself and others. Together as a team, we can look at what is causing you pain, access your internal wisdom to identify and remove blocks, and lean on your strengths to make things better in your life."
